This cobbled pathway is behind the house, the back door is also on this side of the house. The ground above the pathway had previously been a slope with no drainage; the pathway would often flood in winter and sometimes water would flood into the laundry through the back door. The as-built drainage plans from the property bag had shown existing drainage from the toilet that ran the width of the house and was not within safe distance to allow concreting in posts for a timber retaining wall. Hence the owner elected for a block retaining wall. To prevent future flooding of the pathway, drainage coil has been installed at several different heights along the back of the wall.
